Why we chose this word list
We used "sundae" rather than "ice cream", since "ice cream" as two words breaks our single-word rule at the easy level, and "sundae" names the same treat as one word.
Baked goods (cake, cookie, brownie) and griddle foods (waffle, pancake) are both represented, so the list isn't only oven-based desserts.

Why we chose this word list
We deliberately sourced this list internationally (tiramisu, baklava, flan, gelato) rather than sticking to one country's desserts, since "desserts" as a theme shouldn't default to one culture.
"Meringue" and "custard" are two of the most common building blocks of the desserts listed here — knowing them helps a solver understand what several other words actually are.

Why we chose this word list

We included "patissier" (a pastry chef) as a career word, the same choice we made for "zoologist" in our Zoo Animals puzzle — naming the profession behind the subject, not just the subject itself.
