Fruits — Easy Word Search
| Grid size | 12x10 |
|---|---|
| Words to find | 10 |
| Font size | 16 pt |
| Paper | A4 & US Letter |
| Answer key | Included |
| Puzzle ID | F-E-011 · v2026.3 |
Ten fruits every solver already knows by sight, chosen for name recognition over botanical variety.
The shortest words ("kiwi" and "apple") help new solvers gain confidence quickly, while longer entries such as "orange" and "cherry" encourage them to scan the whole grid instead of stopping after the first few finds. In total, this puzzle hides 10 words (apple, banana, orange, grape, lemon, mango, peach, cherry, melon, kiwi) across a 12x10 grid, using 12 of its 16 unique letters at least twice.
Why we chose this word list
We kept every word to a single, common fruit name rather than varieties (no "granny smith" or "cavendish"), matching our easy-level rule against uncommon or compound terms.
Citrus, stone fruit and tropical fruit are all represented, so the list isn't accidentally biased toward one climate.
Vocabulary analysis
Measured directly from this puzzle's own grid — not a generic estimate.
Why this level is easy
- Only horizontal and vertical words — no diagonals
- No reversed words
- Short, everyday vocabulary
- No uncommon spellings
- Minimal overlaps between words
This puzzle satisfies every requirement of our easy level, as defined in our published methodology and applied consistently across every easy puzzle on this site.

Fifteen fruits that add berries and less common tropical varieties, moving past the fruit-bowl basics of the Easy version.
The shortest words ("fig" and "plum") help new solvers gain confidence quickly, while longer entries such as "watermelon" and "pomegranate" encourage them to scan the whole grid instead of stopping after the first few finds. In total, this puzzle hides 15 words (strawberry, blueberry, pineapple, watermelon, apricot, pomegranate, raspberry, tangerine, nectarine, papaya, guava, lychee, plum, fig, cranberry) across a 15x15 grid, using 17 of its 20 unique letters at least twice.
Why we chose this word list
"Pomegranate" and "lychee" were included deliberately: both are fruits many solvers recognize by taste before they can spell, which is exactly the gap a Medium puzzle should close.
We grouped berries (strawberry, blueberry, raspberry, cranberry) together rather than scattering them, since they share visual and grammatical patterns a solver can use while scanning.
Vocabulary analysis
Measured directly from this puzzle's own grid — not a generic estimate.
Why this level is medium
- Horizontal, vertical and diagonal words
- No reversed words
- Mixed word lengths, some less common vocabulary
- Moderate overlaps between words
This puzzle satisfies every requirement of our medium level, as defined in our published methodology and applied consistently across every medium puzzle on this site.

Twenty terms from fruit botany and horticulture, not fruit names — this is the puzzle for how fruit actually grows, ripens and is grown commercially.
The shortest words ("fiber" and "decay") help new solvers gain confidence quickly, while longer entries such as "horticulture" and "photosynthesis" encourage them to scan the whole grid instead of stopping after the first few finds. In total, this puzzle hides 20 words (photosynthesis, ripening, citrus, antioxidant, pollination, orchard, deciduous, perennial, harvest, vitamin, fiber, glucose, fructose, ethylene, horticulture, cultivar, decay, seasonal, pectin, ripeness) across a 20x20 grid, using 18 of its 21 unique letters at least twice.
Why we chose this word list
"Ethylene" is the actual gas fruit releases as it ripens (and that makes other fruit around it ripen faster) — a specific, correct detail rather than a generic-sounding science word.
We included "pectin" because it is the real reason overripe fruit is used for jam, a small piece of kitchen science that connects directly to fruit's culinary use.
Vocabulary analysis
Measured directly from this puzzle's own grid — not a generic estimate.
Why this level is hard
- All eight directions, including reversed words
- Longer, denser word list
- Similar-looking decoy letter sequences in the filler
- Frequent overlaps between words
This puzzle satisfies every requirement of our hard level, as defined in our published methodology and applied consistently across every hard puzzle on this site.
